What a valid GST tax invoice must contain
Under Rule 46 of the CGST Rules: supplier's name, address and GSTIN; a consecutive invoice number (unique for the financial year) and date; recipient's name, address and GSTIN (for B2B); HSN or SAC codes; description, quantity and unit; taxable value; tax rate and amount split as CGST/SGST or IGST; place of supply with state name; whether tax is payable on reverse charge; and the signature of the supplier. This generator covers all of these. Businesses with turnover above ₹5 crore must also generate an e-invoice (IRN) on the government portal — this format is for everyone else and for proformas and quotations.
