Standard salary slip format in India
A payslip normally shows: company name and address; employee name, ID, designation, department, date of joining, PAN, UAN and bank account; the pay period with paid and LOP days; earnings and deductions side by side; gross salary, total deductions and net salary in figures and words; and an authorised signatory line. Banks, landlords, visa officers and new employers ask for the last 3–6 slips, so keep the numbers consistent with Form 16 and bank credits.
Typical components
- Basic — usually 40–50% of CTC; PF and gratuity are calculated on it.
- HRA — 40–50% of basic; exempt under Section 10(13A) in the old regime if you pay rent.
- Employee PF — 12% of basic (+DA), often capped at ₹1,800 when basic is above ₹15,000.
- Professional tax — state-specific, ₹200/month in most states (₹2,500 a year).
- TDS — income tax deducted by the employer; estimate with the income tax calculator.
