How to write 100 on a cheque
Write "Rupees One hundred Only" on the amount line and draw a line after it; write 100/- in the box. Banks accept "and" or hyphens either way, but the words must match the figures exactly.
Why two spellings?
India groups digits in lakh (1,00,000) and crore (1,00,00,000) after the first thousand, so 100 reads "one hundred". The international system groups in thousands, millions and billions, giving "one hundred". Both mean the same amount.
