Online jaap counter for mantra chanting

Tap the big button (or press the space bar) once for every repetition of your mantra — Om Namah Shivaya, Hare Krishna, Radha naam, Ram naam, Gayatri or Navkar. The counter completes a mala at 108 (change it to 1008, 54, 21 or 11), vibrates on completion, and remembers your count on this device so you can continue tomorrow.

Why 108?

A traditional japa mala has 108 beads; chanting one round is one mala. 1008 is used for special sankalpa or on festival days. The counter shows the malas completed, beads left in the current round and your lifetime total.

Tips

Frequently asked questions

Does the jaap counter work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded it needs no internet, and your count is kept in the browser.

Can I use it as a naam jaap counter for a sankalpa of 1 lakh?

Yes — set the target to 1008 or 108 and watch the lifetime total; it keeps counting across days until you reset.

Does it make a sound?

Only if you turn on 'Sound' — then a soft beep plays on each tap. Vibration (on phones) is on by default and pulses when a mala completes.
