How total experience is calculated
Each job's length is counted from the joining date to the leaving date (or today), then all jobs are added together. The result is shown as years, months and days, and also as decimal years — the format most HR forms, Naukri profiles and government applications ask for (e.g. "7.5 years").
Rules used
- Both the joining and leaving dates are counted as working days.
- Gaps between jobs are not counted. Overlapping dates (two jobs at once) are both counted — remove the overlap if you need a strict figure.
- Decimal years = total days ÷ 365.25.
Why experience matters
Experience bands decide eligibility for many Indian job posts (e.g. "minimum 3 years post-qualification experience") and the salary band in private companies. Keep your dates exactly as on your relieving letters — HR verifies them against your PF (UAN) service history.
