How KSEB bills are calculated
Kerala's domestic (LT-1) tariff is telescopic up to 250 units a month: the first 50 units at ₹3.35, 51–100 at ₹4.25, 101–150 at ₹5.35, 151–200 at ₹7.20 and 201–250 at ₹8.50. Above 250 units the tariff is non-telescopic — all units are charged at one rate: ₹6.60 up to 300, ₹7.65 up to 350, ₹7.80 up to 400, ₹8.30 up to 500 and ₹9.25 beyond. A fixed charge (by slab and phase) and 10% electricity duty are added. Bills are usually issued every two months, so divide the bill's units by 2 for the monthly figure.
Example: 180 units → 50 × 3.35 + 50 × 4.25 + 50 × 5.35 + 30 × 7.20 = ₹863 energy charge + fixed charge + duty.

Tips
- Crossing 250 units flips the whole bill to a single higher rate — staying at 250 or below saves a lot.
- Rooftop solar consumers are billed on net import under the same slabs.
- Pay through the KSEB app or wss.kseb.in; a 1% delay surcharge applies after the due date.

Frequently asked questions
What is the KSEB rate for 100 units?
50 units at ₹3.35 + 50 at ₹4.25 = ₹380 in energy charges, plus the fixed charge (about ₹65 single-phase) and 10% duty — roughly ₹480 a month.
What is telescopic and non-telescopic billing?
Telescopic means each block of units is charged at its own rate (like income-tax slabs). Non-telescopic means the single rate of the slab you land in applies to all units — this is what KSEB does above 250 units a month.
Is the KSEB bill monthly or bi-monthly?
Most domestic consumers are billed every two months; the slabs above are per month, so a 2-month bill of 360 units is treated as 180 units per month.
