CFT formula
CFT = Length (ft) × Breadth (ft) × Height (ft)If you measure in inches: CFT = L × B × H (in inches) ÷ 1,728.
Wood example
A plank 8 ft long, 12 in wide, 6 in thick: 8 × 1 × 0.5 = 4 CFT. Timber is sold per CFT, so at ₹2,500/CFT this plank costs ₹10,000.
Cargo example
A carton 24 × 18 × 12 inches = 5,184 ÷ 1,728 = 3 CFT. Movers and transporters often charge by CFT or by volumetric weight.
Conversions
- 1 CFT = 0.0283 cubic metres (CBM)
- 1 CBM = 35.31 CFT
- 1 CFT = 28.32 litres
- Sand & aggregate are sold by CFT or by brass (1 brass = 100 CFT)
