How to remove a password from a PDF
- Choose the protected PDF.
- Type the password you were given (see the common formats below).
- Tap Remove password and download the open copy — it opens anywhere without asking again.
This is for PDFs you have the password for — Aadhaar e-copies, bank and credit-card statements, salary slips, Form 16, insurance and mutual-fund statements. It cannot crack an unknown password.
Common PDF password formats in India
| Document | Password |
|---|
| e-Aadhaar | First 4 letters of your name in CAPITALS + year of birth (e.g. RAHU1995) |
| SBI / HDFC / ICICI statements | Usually a mix of your name letters and date of birth or account digits — check the email |
| Form 16 / Form 26AS | PAN in lowercase + date of birth DDMMYYYY (e.g. abcde1234f01011990) |
| EPF passbook | UAN or as mentioned in the message |
| Salary slip | Employee ID or date of birth — as set by HR |
The unlocked copy is rebuilt from page images (text becomes part of the picture). That keeps the tool fully private and works for every protected file; choose High quality if you need to print.
Frequently asked questions
Can this open a PDF without the password?
No. It only removes protection from a PDF whose password you already know, so you don't have to type it every time.
What is the e-Aadhaar PDF password?
The first four letters of your name in capital letters followed by your year of birth, with no space — for example SURE1992.
Is the unlocked PDF the same quality?
Pages are rendered at 150 DPI by default (sharp on screen and in normal print). Choose High for 200 DPI.
Is my PDF or password sent anywhere?
No. Decryption and rebuilding happen inside your browser with pdf.js; nothing leaves your device.
